Your Ministry Grid church is your learning and teaching content. It controls who has access to digital curriculum, training content, and your organization's Ministry Grid space.
Your Lifeway church account is your church's purchasing identity. It owns your subscriptions, holds your billing, stores your tax exemption, and keeps everything accessible no matter who's on staff.
You need both. And now, you can connect them directly inside Ministry Grid.
How to sync your church account
The Sync Church Account feature is available from the Church Management page in Ministry Grid. Ministry Grid will automatically display a matching Lifeway church account that you are linked to. If you're not linked, you can create a new account.
Go to Church Management in your Ministry Grid admin dashboard. Look for the "Sync Church Account" section near the top of the page.
Click Sync Account. A modal will appear showing your Ministry Grid church and the Lifeway church account you're linked to.
Confirm the match and click Sync Church Account. If the account shown isn't yours, select "Not the right account?" to select a different one or create a new church account.
Once synced, your church's Lifeway account number is connected to your Ministry Grid org. Subscription transfers, billing management, and future platform features will work across both systems automatically.
Two paths through the sync flow
If you're already a purchaser or admin on a church account: Review the account name and number shown. If it's correct, confirm and sync. Takes about 10 seconds. Your Ministry Grid name will update to match the church account.
If no match or wrong account: Select "Not the right account?" to select for an existing church account by your 10-digit account number, or create a new one. Takes 2–3 minutes.
Why this matters for your ministry
1. Staff changes don't disrupt access
When a subscription is tied to one person's account, it leaves with them — or stays active under someone who no longer works at your church. A connected church account means you add the new kids director, remove the previous one, and your ministry keeps running without a gap. No shared passwords. No locked-out accounts.
Common scenario this prevents: "Our previous children's director had the subscription in her name. She left in August and we lost access to our content right before the new quarter started."
2. The church owns its curriculum — not the person who bought it
Once your accounts are synced, any subscription currently owned by an individual can be transferred to the church in a few steps. The subscription belongs to the church permanently — billing, renewal reminders, and access all move to the org.
3. Finance and ministry stay in sync
Every Lifeway purchase your church makes — curriculum, VBS supplies, Ministry Grid subscriptions — appears under one account. Your finance team can pull invoices and review order history without chasing receipts from individual staff members.
4. Stop paying sales tax on renewals or future purchases
Upload your tax exemption certificate once to your church account. Every future Lifeway purchase applies it automatically — no forms at checkout, no reimbursements to process after the fact.
5. One account number, everything connected
Your church's 10-digit account number works across all Lifeway interactions. Once synced with Ministry Grid, it connects your church's purchasing history, subscriptions, and customer service — under one church identity.
6. A dedicated rep who knows your church
Church accounts include access to a dedicated customer success representative — someone who knows your church's context when something goes wrong mid-curriculum volume.
Don't have a church account yet?
You'll have the option to create one. It takes about 2–3 minutes. Your 10-digit account number is issued immediately by email — save it for future Lifeway interactions.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to cancel existing subscriptions to move them to a church account?
No. Once your accounts are connected, you can transfer any individually-owned subscription from the subscriptions page without canceling. During the transfer you choose the billing contact and payment method going forward.
What if a staff member owns a subscription and has already left?
Contact our support team. The sooner you reach out, the easier it is to resolve before a renewal date passes.
What if the account Ministry Grid found isn't mine?
Select "Not the right account?" in the sync modal. You can search for the correct account using your church's 10-digit account number, or create a new one if your church doesn't have an account yet.
Can I have both a personal Lifeway account and a church account?
Yes. Personal and church accounts are separate. Your personal account stays yours — the church account is the org-level identity for your church's purchases and subscriptions.
