πŸ’‘ We have designed The Lightup Hub to help you:

  • Focus on what matters most.

  • Revise in short, sharp bursts instead of marathon sessions.

  • Build exam skills alongside knowledge.

  • Utilise quiz-based, module-style learning to get straight to the point.

πŸ’‘ How to revise for English Literature (AQA/Edexcel)?

When revising for Literature, we recommend you follow this sequence on the Hub:

  1. Start with Summaries – get the big picture before diving into detail.

  2. Move to Context – understand the world that shaped the text.

  3. Explore Characters and Key Quotes (KQs) – focus on who matters and what they say. For our main characters, choose 2 key quotes per main theme.

  4. Use WOWs – high-level analysis moments to take your essays further.

  5. Visit Essay Skills – we’ll guide you to cater your writing for AQA or Edexcel.

✨Top tip on quote selection

Pick a mix of short, sharp ones and longer, richer ones. This builds flexibility and makes sure you’re ready for whatever the exam throws at you. We recommend learning two key quotes per character and

theme for the main characters and three quotes in total for the smaller characters.

πŸ’‘ How to revise for English Language (AQA/Edexcel)?

For Language revision, approach the Hub exactly as you would the exam:

  1. Start with the largest question (creative or persuasive writing).

  2. Work backwards through the paper – just as you would under exam conditions.

πŸ’‘ How to revise on other exam-boards (Eduqas, OCR, WJEC etc.) ?

  1. English Literature

Simply select either AQA/Edexcel for literature and begin! Our literature Lessons are applicable across all exam boards, so you can select your courses and dive right in. Please note that Essay Skills are predominantly suited to AQA and Edexcel. But we are working hard to cater for all exam-boards!

2. English Language

Select either AQA/Edexcel and focus on Question 4 and Question 5! The good news is that the last two questions of every Language paper, creative and persuasive writing, are essentially the same across all exam boards. These are the highest-mark questions, and our resources here are totally transferable whether you’re on AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, or OCR.

✨ Top Tip: Even if only one of your texts is available on The Lightup Hub, it’s still incredibly valuable. The skills you’ll learn: can be applied to any board.
