Changes to Statutory Sick Pay mean that workers on limber will be eligible for SSP from April 6th 2026 onwards.
How does Sick Pay work for workers?
If a worker is ill, they can notify us in the app to claim Sick Pay for any shifts they’re unable to attend. We’re constantly monitoring all sickness cancellations. If we suspect anyone of abusing the system, their account is suspended while we investigate.
Our 2% sick levy:
In order to implement a fair approach, we share the cost of illness across the limber hiring community. That means the cost is uniform, shared and predictable. We do this by adding a 2% sick levy to our bill to cover the cost.
Think of this as an insurance policy against illness payable on every shift. You’ll never have to pay more than this if a worker cancels, and we’ll cover and administer all SSP to workers on limber.
The 2% sick levy has been added to our 11% NI/Pension fee. This 13% appears on your invoices as “Employment on costs” to reflect the scope.
Why does limber charge 2% as a sick levy?
In 2024, the Office for National Statistics found that 2% of hours each year are lost to illness. While the cost of paying and administrating SSP are higher than this, we believe 2% is a fair charge to pass through to hirers on limber.
What about NI/pension on SSP?
The NI/pension cost remains 11% of your shift cost. We pay NI/Pension on SSP amounts, but we don't pass these additional costs.
