Tags are flexible labels you can apply to Assets to categorize and organize them in your Library. Unlike rigid folder structures, tags let you classify Assets in multiple ways, making it easier to find what you need.

How tags work

Each Asset in your Library can have multiple tags. When you search or filter by a tag, you'll see all Assets that share that label—regardless of where they live in your Kits.

For example, a single product photo could be tagged with:

  • The product name (e.g., "Widget Pro")

  • The campaign (e.g., "Summer 2024")

  • The content type (e.g., "Lifestyle")

  • The status (e.g., "Approved")

This flexibility means team members can find Assets through whatever path makes sense to them.

Why use tags?

Tags help you:

  • Find Assets faster by filtering on criteria that matter to you

  • Organize across categories without duplicating files

  • Build dynamic Galleries that automatically include Assets with specific tags

  • Keep your Library tidy as your collection grows

Tags vs custom fields

Both tags and custom fields add metadata to Assets, but they serve different purposes:

Tags

Custom fields

Free-form labels

Structured data with defined types

Quick to add on the fly

Require setup by admins

Best for flexible categorization

Best for consistent, searchable attributes

Multiple tags per Asset

One value per field (or multiple for checklists)

Use tags for ad-hoc organization and quick categorization. Use custom fields when you need structured data like dates, status dropdowns, or numerical values.
