In Lingo, Assets live in your Library and can be added to multiple Kits. When you "add" an Asset to a Kit, you're not moving or copying the file—you're creating a reference to the same Asset.
Understanding references
Every Asset in your space exists once in the Library. When you add an Asset to a Kit:
The Kit displays the Asset
The underlying file stays in the Library
The same Asset can appear in multiple Kits simultaneously
Changes to the Asset (name, tags, custom fields, or replacing the file) reflect everywhere it appears
This is different from copying a file — there's only one Asset, shown in multiple places.
Adding Assets from Library to a Kit
Drag and drop
Open the Kit where you want to add Assets
Open the insert panel and drag the Asset block
Select "From the library"
Select the assets you want to add
From the Library
Open the Library
Select one or more Assets
Right-click (or use the menu) and select Add to Kit
Choose the target Kit and Page
The Assets appear in the Kit
Adding Assets to multiple Kits
Since Assets are references, you can freely add the same Asset to as many Kits as needed:
Add your logo to a brand guidelines Kit, a press Kit, and a partner Kit
Include product photos in both a sales Kit and a marketing Kit
Share icons across multiple project Kits
There's no limit to how many Kits can reference the same Asset.
Removing Assets from a Kit
To remove an Asset from a Kit:
Select the Asset in the Kit
Open the action menu and select Remove from kit
This removes the Asset from that Kit only. The Asset remains in your Library and in any other Kits where it appears.
Admins and Content Managers can also choose Delete from Lingo to permanently delete the Asset from the Library and all Kits.
What "moving" means
If you want an Asset from one kit to another:
Select the asset(s) in the original Kit
Open the action menu and select Move to...
Choose the target Kit and Page
Confirm the move
Since it's the same Asset, all its metadata (tags, custom fields, notes) carries over automatically.
