This article will review how to access your funds faster with LMN Pay Powered by Stripe Instant Payouts.
Overview
Cash flow doesn’t wait for banking hours, so we built Instant Payouts to keep up. Instant Payouts accelerate access to your funds, making them available as soon as a transaction successfully processes in LMN. You can request an Instant Payout any day or time, including weekends and holidays, for an additional 1.5% fee. Funds will land in the associated payout account within 30 minutes, giving you back control over your cashflow so you can start the next job sooner, or cover payroll without waiting on your standard deposit schedule.
Instant Payout Availability
Instant Payouts are available on all LMN subscriptions, and available to all US & Canadian users. To qualify, you must be signed up for LMN Pay Powered by Stripe in your LMN account and be connected to an instant eligible bank account. Only card payments are instantly available. ACH/bank debit payments are included only after they settle
To confirm your bank account is eligible for instant payouts in LMN:
Navigate to Settings > then click on LMN Pay and log into your Stripe Account Management
Under Payout Details, check whether your bank account displays a Instant Eligible badge. This badge confirms your account is eligible for Instant Payouts.
If the badge is not displayed, your bank account does not support Instant Payouts. To receive them, add a debit card to your account
Click on Add debit card, enter in your details and click Save.
Once your debit card has been verified (this can take up to 48 hours) you will be able to initiate an Instant Payout to that account.
Here is the list of compatible debit cards with Stripe. However, in the US, if your card says “Visa Debit” and it’s issued by a major bank you likely have a card that will work for instant payouts. In Canada, it varies a bit more depending on the bank. You will need to be using a Visa debit or a MasterCard debit, rather than Interac.
Fees
The 1.5% Instant Payout fee is billed separately (gross billing) rather than deducted from your payout. You'll receive the full amount requested in typically 30 minutes and the fee is recovered from your next scheduled payout. Stripe says funds “might be delayed, depending on your bank."
Instant Payouts have a limit of $50,000 per payout and $50,000 per day for each merchant. You can pay out up to $50,000 in a single payout, or split it across several payouts, as long as your total for the day stays within $50,000 and your balance covers the payout amount plus the 1.5% fee.
Issue an Instant Payout
In LMN, navigate to the left menu bar and click on the Payment tab, then click on Payouts.
You can initiate an Instant Payout from the funds in your Stripe Total Balance, or from any pending funds listed under See Details.
⚠️ Stripe does not pull funds from a specific upcoming payout. Instead, it draws from an aggregate pool of your available balance. This reduces your overall balance, which affects when your next standard payout occurs.
Click on the blue Pay Out button to choose how you want to receive funds.
Pay out to: This field will default to your Instant Eligible bank account. If you added a debit card to your account, you can click on the drop down to select your debit card instead
Amount: Enter in the amount you wish to be paid out instantly. The maximum amount is $50,000.00 at one time, or a daily limit of $50,000 across multiple instant payouts.
The Instant Payout fee of 1.5% will be shown below and will be deducted and shown on your next scheduled payout report. This fee is specific to that Instant Payout.
Once you have entered the amount, click Pay Out to finalize the transaction. Funds will typically land in your bank account within 30 minutes.
Once you have successfully received an Instant Payout to your bank account, a Paid report will be recorded under the Payouts tab in LMN. The report will include the amount, fee, type and method. Note: the fee will be deducted on your next scheduled payout.
How instant payouts affect your upcoming standard payouts
Instant Payouts with Stripe do not pull from a specific upcoming payout. Instead, it draws from your total available and pending account balance. Once pulled, this reduces your overall balance, which will affect your next standard payout.
See Example Below:
June 25: You process $5000 in credit card payments.
At a 3% processing rate, Stripe deducts $150 in fees before the funds land.
Your available balance is $4,850.00
June 26: You request an Instant Payout of $4000.
The full $4,000 arrives in your bank account in typically 30 minutes. The 1.5% fee- $60– is charged against your balance rather than deducted from the transfer
Your available balance is $790.00 ($4,850 - $4,000 - $60)
June 27: Your standard scheduled payout deposits $790.00 to your bank account
Instant Payouts with Advance Funding
Stripe enables Instant Payout users to access pending balances through the advance and advance_funding type balance transactions. When you create an instant payout that exceeds your available balance, funds are added to your available balance and subtracted from your pending balance to cover the difference.
Advance funding alignment
To align advance funding with the original availability of payments, Stripe creates multiple advance_funding type balance transactions when it pulls funds from multiple days worth of payments balances.
See Example Below:
June 26 — You have $0 in your available balance and have the following pending transactions arriving:
$300 on June 27
$700 on June 28
$400 on June 29
June 26- You request a $1,000 Instant Payout.
Stripe advances the full amount from your pending funds:
Advance Funding type −$300 (June 27),
Advance Funding type −$700 (June 28),
and an Advance of +$1,000. The money arrives in typically 30 minutes, and the 1.5% fee ($15) is charged against your balance.
June 27 — No standard payout. Those funds were already advanced to you.
June 28 — No standard payout. Same reason.
June 29 — Your $400 becomes available, the $15 fee comes out, and a standard payout of $385 deposits into your bank account
Reversal of failed or cancelled Instant Payouts
When an instant payout fails or gets cancelled, the corresponding advance and advance_funding type balance transactions are reversed by offsetting balance transactions. In the example above, if the $1,000 instant payout fails:
$300 is credited back to your T+1 balance
$700 is credited back to your T+2 balance
$1,000 is deducted from your available balance
The $15 fee is refunded to you

FAQs
What if an instant payout fails?
If an Instant Payout fails, first confirm that your payout account is still eligible for Instant Payouts (for example, that your debit card hasn't expired or been replaced). If it is, contact your bank to make sure nothing is blocking the account from receiving instant payouts. Your funds and the fee are returned automatically, and you can try again or wait for your standard payout.
💡Debit card details cannot be edited. To fix a linked debit card, remove it and add it as a new card.
When do I pay the 1.5% Instant Payout fee?
You'll receive the full (gross) amount you requested in your bank account. The fee is deducted from your next scheduled payout.
Your balance must cover the fee, so the most you can pay out instantly is slightly less than your total balance.
Example:
Total balance = $1,015.00
Instant Payout availability = $1,000.00
1.5% fee = $15.00
How do I add or change my debit card?
To add a new debit card for Instant Payouts, go to LMN→ LMN Pay Settings and sign into your Stripe Account Management profile on the right. Once logged in, scroll down to Payout details. From there you can delete the current debit card on file and add a new one.
What is the maximum amount I can withdraw in an Instant Payout?
You can pay out up to $50,000 per Instant Payout, as long as your available and upcoming balance covers that amount plus the 1.5% fee. If your balance is lower, the maximum is slightly less than your total balance.
Example: To pay out $50,000.00 instantly, you need a balance of at least $50,750.00 ($50,000.00 plus a $750.00 fee)
What happens if I need to refund a transaction that was recently paid out to me with an Instant Payout?
You can still refund it. Refunds are taken from your balance, not from the money already sent to your bank account. If your balance can't cover the refund, it will go negative, and the shortfall is recovered from your future payments or payouts. The 1.5% Instant Payout fee isn't returned when a payment is refunded.
Example: You instantly pay out $1,000 from a payment. The customer then asks for a refund. If your balance is $0, the $1,000 refund takes it to -$1,000, and that amount is recovered from your next incoming payments or payouts. If there are no incoming payments, Stripe will automatically debit the negative balance from your bank account.
Who is eligible for Instant Payouts?
Instant Payouts is available only to merchants boarded with LMN Pay Powered by Stripe. As long as you have funds in your available balance, or pending available balance, you will be able to initiate an Instant Payout at a 1.5% fee
