How does LMN onboarding work?

Onboarding has four stages: prepare, kickoff, guided setup, and Graduation.

  • Prepare: learn how LMN fits together, send your documentation, add your team, sign up for LMN Pay, and create your first contact.

  • Kickoff: we set your goals and your plan together.

  • Guided setup: we build your account and train with you, one topic at a time.

  • Graduation: we review your setup and connect you to ongoing help.

What do I do to get ready for kickoff?

Your preparation checklist has six short steps. Each takes a few minutes, and together they make sure our time on the call goes to your business.

  1. Understand the process

  2. Explore your account

  3. Send your documentation

  4. Add your team

  5. Sign up for LMN Pay

  6. Create your first contact

💡Tip: Submit documentation prior to Kickoff so we can enter into you budget during Kickoff!

Please complete these steps before your kickoff call so we can spend that time planning your first few weeks instead of gathering the basics. If you get stuck, ask Fin* or contact your onboarding specialist for help.

*Fin is LMN’s AI support assistant. You can ask it questions in LMN or the Help Center; it can also connect you with the support team. This can be found in the lower right hand side of your LMN account.

What happens at kickoff?

Kickoff is your first live call with your onboarding specialist. We start with what matters most to your business, then map out your first few weeks. On the call, we will:

  • Review what you've submitted and fill in any gaps.

  • Confirm your goals and plan for your sessions.

  • Connect QuickBooks, if needed.

  • Answer your LMN Pay questions, and help you finish your application if it is not complete.

  • Book your next call, so you always know what is coming.

What happens during guided setup?

After kickoff, you and your specialist meet for a series of working sessions. You bring your information and make the decisions that fit your business, and we help build your LMN account to match. Your goals shape the order. Topics include:

  • Account setup

  • CRM

  • Budget and Price List

  • Estimating

  • Jobs

  • Scheduling

  • Crew App and Timesheets

  • QuickBooks

  • Invoicing and payments

  • Analytics

Between calls, you will have a short homework step to complete in your own LMN account. These should only take about 15 to 20 minutes and helps you put each topic to work, so you get value from LMN faster.

What is a Graduation?

Graduation is when we review your completed setup together, close any gaps, and make sure you know where to turn next. After onboarding, you can get help from Fin, the Help Center, our Support team, and your Customer Success Manager.

Who should join my onboarding calls?

You do not need your whole team on every call. These people help most:

  • The owner or main decision-maker, for kickoff, budget, and pricing.

  • The business owner or an authorized representative, for your LMN Pay sign-up.

  • Office staff and crew leads, for the sessions that cover their work, such as your estimator for estimates and your crew leads for Crew and Time.

FAQs

How long does onboarding take?

Onboarding takes about 30 to 45 days. Complete 6 of the 9 onboarding outcomes within 120 days of signing and, if you’re eligible, you’ll graduate and receive your onboarding credit.

What if I have not finished the checklist before kickoff?

Please finish it before the call. Your kickoff goes much further when the checklist is done, because we use the time to plan your first few weeks instead of gathering the basics. If something is holding you up, contact your onboarding specialist before the call and we will help you get it done.

Do I need QuickBooks to use LMN?

No. If you do not use QuickBooks, we skip the QuickBooks setup. Everything else in LMN works the same.

What if I get stuck before my first call?

Ask Fin* in LMN or search the Help Center any time. Need a person? Reach out to your Onboarding Specialist directly.

Where do I get help after onboarding?

Fin, the Help Center, Support, and your Customer Success Manager are all available. Your specialist shows you where everything is on Graduation.

What is the 'Onboarding Credit'?

If you’re eligible, you receive an onboarding credit when you graduate. Graduating means completing at least 6 of the 9 onboarding outcomes within 120 days of signing. Your onboarding specialist works through each outcome with you and can confirm whether you’re eligible.
