Can the public really make changes to my GMB listings?

TL;DR - Yes, even if it doesn't seem fair

It's true, anyone can suggest an edit to the details of a Google My Business listing, including your competition. These user-generated changes can be made live on one or more of your listings and you might not even be notified by Google that the changes have gone live to the public. This includes changing your business address, name, phone number, hours, categories and attributes.

Vigilance is Required
It's good practice to always be aware of any changes made to your listings. LocalClarity makes this easier for businesses and agencies of every size by offering a real-time report for any edits made to any listing in your account.

Set Your Notification
To create a real-time notification for edits to any of your listings. Go to Settings > Report Management > New Report. Decide upon the unique name of your report, the email recipients, and then select the Location Report button. You can filter it down or simply hit the Create this Report for notifications for all changes across the entire profile.

GMB Sync Audits
The LocalClarity system relies on communication from Google to trigger real-time email notices. It's a well know industry issue that Google doesn't send every single edit notification. To address this issue, all accounts can be set up for GMB Sync Audits.

You can set the timing for the Sync Audits from Settings > Profile Details. Each pull is set for 12:00AM of the day selected.

The platform reaches out to GMB on the set schedule and compares all the GMB data points compared to the prior sync. If any data point of any listing is different from the prior sync, the variance is logged and a report is generated.

Account admins can view your reports by going to Settings > Google Audit and select a log report from the drop-down.

You can also see the individual location changes over time in the Manage Locations detail pane.

This is the industry's first available process to provide 100% visibility to any GMB listing changes at enterprise scale.
