We have the tools to both check whether a location is verified/unverified, as well as the ability to verify a location directly within the application.

In order to verify a location, you'll need to open that location panel within the application and select the warning icon located in the top-right hand corner. When selected, a pop-out will appear, listing out the option(s) for beginning this process.

Depending on what Google has available for your location details, verification options can fluctuate between 1-3 choices.

Verification by Phone

Some business listings are eligible to receive a verification code by phone. If this option is available, then you can choose to have Google either call or text the verification code to the number associated with the GBP listing.

To verify your business listing by phone:

  1. Make sure you have access to that phone number in order to get your verification code.

  2. Choose how you want to receive the code; Call or Text Message

  3. Enter the code within the designated section.

After you enter your code, your business information will be eligible to appear live in Search, Maps, and other Google properties.

Verification by Mail

By choosing to verify by mail, a postcard with a verification code will be sent to the address associated with the GMB.

Don't edit your business name, address, or category, or request a new code while you're waiting—this may delay the verification process.

To verify your business by mail:

  1. On the postcard request screen, make sure that your address is displayed accurately. If it isn't, edit the address before you request your postcard. You can also add a contact name to help your postcard reach you

  2. Select Mail

  3. Check the mail for your postcard. Most postcards arrive within 5 days.

  4. Once you receive your postcard, come back to this screen and enter the 5-digit verification code and click to submit

Once you’ve entered your verification code, your business information will be eligible to appear live on Google Maps, Search, and other Google services.

Verification by Email

Not all businesses can verify their listing by email. If you don't see this option, try another verification method.

Before trying to verify your listing by email, make sure you can access the email address ID shown on screen.

To verify a business by email:

  1. Write in the initial part of the email address to complete, and select Email.

  2. Check your email for verification code.

  3. Come back to this screen and enter the code from the email and submit.

Once you’ve entered your verification code, your business information will be eligible to appear live on Google Maps, Search, and other Google services.
