For Drivers: Adding a Company's TSL Number and Details in Log Ninja

A guide for drivers on how to add or update your transport company’s details when creating or managing logs in the Log Ninja app.

Why do I need to add a TSL Number?

Every transport company in New Zealand has a unique Transport Service Licence (TSL) number. By entering this number into the Log Ninja app, you make sure your logbooks are always correctly linked and sent to the right transport operator's account.


What you'll need to enter

Whenever you add a new company or edit an existing one in the app, you must fill in four mandatory fields. You won't be able to save until all four are completed correctly:

Company Name

The full name of the company you drive for.

TSL Number

The company's Transport Service Licence number (numbers only, no spaces or letters).

Email

The company's contact email address where logs are sent.

Phone Number

The company's contact phone number (numbers only, no spaces or dashes).

If you see an error when saving, double-check that your TSL Number and Phone Number only contain numbers.


Where do I find the TSL number?

You can usually find the company’s TSL number on the TSL label displayed in the windscreen or side window of the vehicle you are driving. If you aren't sure, ask your transport operator or manager, they will know their TSL number.


When you need to enter these details

You will be asked to provide these four fields in the following situations:

1. Adding a new company to your Account

  • Open the app and go to Account > Company Details

  • Tap Add New Company

  • Fill in the Company Name, TSL Number, Email, and Phone Number

  • Tap Save

2. Editing an existing company

If an existing company in your app is missing a TSL number or phone number, you will need to add them before you can save any changes.

  • Go to Account > Company Details

  • Select the company you want to edit

  • Update or add the missing details

  • Tap Save

3. Creating a new log

  • Start a new log as usual

  • On the Starting Company screen, select New Company

  • Fill in all four company details

  • Tap Save and continue with your log

4. Changing the company on a current/active log

  • If you need to change the company on a current log or a history log, select New Company

  • Fill in the four required fields before saving the change

If the "Save" button isn't working or you get an error message, check the following:

  • Did you fill in all four fields? None of them can be left blank.

  • Did you use only numbers for the TSL Number and Phone Number? Make sure there are no spaces, letters, or special characters (like dashes) in these two fields.


Common questions

Q: Do I need to update my existing companies?

A: You’ll be prompted to add the TSL Number and Phone Number the next time you edit an existing company. These fields are required to save any changes.

Q: Can I use the same TSL Number for multiple companies?

A: Each company record is saved independently. Enter the correct TSL Number for each company.
