To ensure the highest level of accuracy and data security for your business, Log Ninja uses your Transport Service Licence (TSL) number. This article explains how we use your TSL number and why it is important for managing your driver logbooks.
What is a TSL Number?
A TSL number is a unique identifier issued by NZTA. If your business operates a qualifying goods service, passenger service, or vehicle recovery service, you are legally required to hold a TSL (subject to limited exemptions set by NZTA).
Why does Log Ninja need my TSL Number?
We use your TSL number as the primary unique identifier for your transport company within the Log Ninja system. This ensures that every logbook sent by your drivers is correctly linked to your specific company account. By using your TSL number, we solve several common problems:
Preventing duplicate accounts: In the past, if a driver used a different email address to find your company, it could create confusing duplicate accounts. TSL numbers prevent this by providing one single reference point for your company.
Accurate data matching: When drivers search for your company in the Log Ninja app, they will now use your TSL number. This guarantees they are sending their logbook data to the exact right place every time.
Keeping historic records clean: If you have used Log Ninja for a while, providing your TSL number allows us to link all your past driver logbooks correctly to your new secure account.
How do drivers use my TSL Number?
When a driver uses the Log Ninja app and needs to send a logbook to your company for the first time, they will be prompted to enter your TSL number.
If your TSL number is already registered in our system, the driver will instantly be linked to your company profile, making the process fast and error-free.
If your TSL number is not yet in our system: The driver will be asked to enter your TSL number, your company name, and your contact email address. We will then send you an email invitation to create your secure Log Ninja account.
Where can I find my TSL Number?
Your TSL number is usually shown on the TSL label displayed in the windscreen or side window of vehicles operating under your licence, in line with NZTA requirements.
How do I add my TSL Number?
If you are an existing Log Ninja company, you can easily add your TSL number to your account:
Log in to the Log Ninja Web Portal.
Go to your Profile.
Enter your TSL number in the provided field and save your changes.
