How to Choose a Training Plan in the App

A guide to selecting the right program

To get started with your training, you’ll need to choose a program that forms the foundation of your plan. Here’s a simple guide to help you understand both how to think and what to do when selecting your program.

Here’s a helpful video explaining how to choose a plan:

For new users

Recommended setup from our coaches

When you join the service for the first time, one of our coaches will recommend a training setup tailored to the information you shared during your onboarding.

Adjustments along the way

You may need to make changes as you progress. You can easily adjust your plan yourself, or get support from FIN (our AI assistant) or one of our coaches.

For existing users (when switching from the old service)

If you’re an existing user and have just downloaded the new app, a few different scenarios may occur. Here’s how to handle the most common ones.

How do I continue my current program in the new app?

Choose the same program in the program selector that you had in the old service. The app will take you directly to the week you left off.

What if my program doesn’t start yet?

If you choose a program that’s scheduled to start later — for example, in a few weeks — you can select a shorter preparatory program until your main plan begins.
This keeps you active and helps you build readiness for the longer program.

What to do:
See our help article on using preparatory programs

What if I have several races in a row and need to switch programs often?

If you have multiple races planned during the season, the best approach is usually to select the program based on your main goal.
You can then adjust the weekly structure to include your smaller target races by adding them into your plan as sessions.

What if I want to add a race that isn’t in the list?

If you’re running an event that isn’t one of our preset options, you can easily add your own race and get a tailored plan towards it.

What to do:
Use our guide Create Your Own Race and select a program that fits your specific goal.

What if I can’t find a program with the right number of sessions for my goal?

If you want to train a certain number of times per week for a specific goal but can’t find a program that matches, you may need to pick a plan with slightly fewer or more sessions and adjust it yourself.
You can also submit a request to our coaching team — we’ll add a version of the program with the session count you need.

What to do:
Contact us through the coach button for help finding the right program.
If you’re talking to FIN, press Talk to a human and you’ll be connected to a coach.

What if I want to combine running with other types of training?

If you want to continue strength training, cycling, or other activities alongside your running plan, that works perfectly.
We’ve created guidelines on how to combine different training types without risking overtraining or injury.
You can add extra sessions each week or swap running sessions for alternative training.

What to do:
