Editing Book List Improvements 📚

We’ve made managing long book lists easier. Users can now drag and drop to reorder books and remove them with fewer steps for a smoother experience.

Example Problem for Spicy Mode🆕

Students can now get a sample solution for similar problems in Spicy mode, helping them get started more easily. They access it by clicking the button next to the text-to-speech icon.

💬 Open Free Text Chat

Students in grades 9–12 can now write directly to Lava. This feature enables open conversation for enhanced learning and engagement.

Updated Pie Chart 🥧

The new pie chart makes labels and comparisons easier. Labels now appear inside the pie with percentages included, so users can see results without checking the table. Up to 8 standards (inner pie) and 24 skills (outer pie) are displayed; if exceeded, domains and standards will be shown instead.

Highlight District Assignments📌

District assignments now appear at the top of the Unpublished tab with a constant notification showing how many need publishing. The alert stays until published, making it easier for teachers to find and manage them.

Student Progress Matrix: This Year and Historic Views

To help teachers monitor student learning and growth more effectively, we’ve updated the Student Progress Matrix to provide both current-year and historical views of student performance.

The This Year tab displays the matrix for the current school year. Teachers can see how students are performing on the standards they are actively working on, helping them identify areas where students may need additional support.

The Historic tab provides a view of students’ performance from the previous school year. This information is aligned with the standards from the grade below, giving teachers context on prior learning and helping them plan instruction for the current year.

Set a Student’s Translation Language 💬

Some teachers have mandates that require students to receive problems in Spanish (or another language), and we want to support that need.

Teachers can select a translation language for a student in the Support Settings menu. By checking the box, the student will only receive math problems in the chosen language and will not be able to change it.

To do this, the teacher goes into the relevant class, clicks the three dots next to the student’s name, selects Support Settings, chooses the translation language, and checks the box. Once this is set, the student will see all problems in that language.

Edit Work on Correct Problems

Students can now edit their work after revisiting a problem they’ve already solved correctly. This supports deeper learning and reflection, while ensuring the original answer remains unchanged.

The Edit button appears only when a student revisits a problem they have already solved correctly. Students can modify their work to explore alternative strategies or improve the presentation of their solution. The original answer to the problem cannot be changed.

To use this feature, students should press the Edit button, update their work on the drawboard, and then either click Save Drawboard or move on to the next problem, as changes are saved automatically. Once finished, they are done.
