Accessing Practice Mode

From your Magma Math dashboard, click Practice in the left-hand menu to access the teacher view of Practice Mode. You'll see the same skill content your students have access to, along with each student's progress — stars earned, skills attempted, and growth over time.

Recommending skills

Use assignment and quiz results to identify skills students need to revisit. From the Practice tab, you can recommend specific skills to:

  • Individual students

  • Small groups

  • Your entire class

Recommended skills appear at the top of the student's selection list, making it easy for them to find and act on your suggestions.

Targeting individual skills

From your practice mode dashboard, you can select and recommend a specific skill directly — not just a broad content area. This lets you be precise about what each student or group practices.

Controlling grade-level access

You can lock or unlock specific grade levels to ensure students practice the right content. Apply these settings to individual students or your whole class.

Tracking Student Progress

Students earn stars based on their accuracy for each Practice Mode card:

  • 1 star: 50–69% correct

  • ⭐⭐ 2 stars: 70–89% correct

  • ⭐⭐⭐ 3 stars: 90–100% correct

In the teacher dashboard you can:

  • View each student's star ratings per skill

  • Identify students who haven't attempted recommended skills

  • Spot patterns of misunderstanding to inform reteaching decisions
