We’ve added a new Key Vocabulary section to the Instructions tab to help you build understanding before pupils begin an assignment. This feature is designed to support instruction at the start of a lesson, giving you a simple way to introduce key terms, spark discussion, and ensure pupils share a common understanding before they start working.
Why teachers use it
Introduce important concepts before independent work
Build shared understanding of key math vocabulary
Encourage classroom discussion and pupil participation
Strengthen readiness for the assignment ahead
What you’ll see
For each assignment, Magma automatically generates:
4 vocabulary flip cards
Each card includes:
A key term
A clear pupil-friendly definition
Examples to help bring the concept to life
You’ll also see prompts from Lava encouraging pupils to share their own examples, helping you surface thinking and start meaningful discussion as a class.
How to use it in your lesson
Open the Instructions tab for an assignment
Review the automatically generated vocabulary cards
Use the cards to introduce and discuss key terms with your class
Invite pupils to contribute their own examples
Transition into the assignment with shared understanding established
