Scrap Paper (Launch Tab)

The Scrap Paper tool in the Launch Tab gives teachers a quick way to model problems for pupils using a blank canvas with manipulatives and writing tools, without needing to navigate into Solve Mode or a specific problem.

Written by Vera

Teachers often need a fast way to demonstrate strategies or model thinking during the start of a lesson. Previously, this required opening a problem or entering Solve Mode. Scrap Paper solves this by providing a lightweight, always-available space for quick modelling directly from the Launch Tab.

What it is

From the Launch Tab, teachers can access a Scrap Paper button that opens a blank drawboard. This includes:

  • Writing tools

  • Maths manipulatives

  • A flexible workspace for modelling

Any work done in Scrap Paper is temporary and will not be saved after exiting.

How to use it

  1. Open an assignment

  2. Go to the Launch Tab

  3. Click Scrap Paper

  4. Use the drawboard to model or demonstrate ideas live with pupils

Important notes

  • Scrap Paper is not saved after exiting

  • It is designed for live instruction and quick modelling

  • It does not require navigating into Solve Mode or individual problems
