If you're registering external (bring-your-own) domains through the Maildoso API and you get an error like "Domain limit exceeded. Current: 0, Limit: 0", this isn't something wrong with your request — it means your account's domain capacity hasn't been fully attached yet, even though your plan includes domains.
What this error means
Your subscription sets how many domain "slots" your account can hold. The API checks that number before letting a new domain in. When you see Current: 0, Limit: 0, it means no domain capacity is currently attached to your account — usually because it didn't finish linking after checkout, or your plan needs additional domain capacity added.
This is not a lost payment and not something you did wrong with your API call. The request format is fine; the account simply needs its domain capacity switched on.
What to do
Double-check in your dashboard's Domains page whether it also shows 0 available domains — that confirms the same root cause.
Confirm your plan is meant to include domain capacity (some plans are mailboxes-only, and domains need to be added separately).
Contact us with the email address on your account and, if you have it, your order/receipt reference. We'll confirm your subscription and attach the correct domain capacity — this is part of completing your order, so there's no extra charge for fixing it.
Limit reached, but not a 0/0 mismatch
If your Current and Limit numbers both look like real numbers that match your plan (not 0/0) but you still can't add new domains, check your Domains page for any domains sitting in Awaiting Renewal status. Domains in this state currently still count against your domain limit even though they aren't active or usable — so a handful of stuck renewals can block new registrations despite your plan having "room" on paper.
If you have domains in Awaiting Renewal — especially any close to their expiration date — contact us with your account email and the affected domain names. We'll look at freeing up or completing those renewals so the slots become usable again, and prioritize any that are expiring soon.
Once your domain capacity is active
Retry your API call to register the external domain — it should go through once the limit reflects your plan.
Remember that bringing your own domain also requires pointing it at the two nameservers we provide; we manage the MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for you automatically once that's done.
