Design references tell Maket the style, materials and finishes you want for your space. There are two ways to set them: pick from Maket's library, or bring your own.
Using Maket's library
In 2D, select what you want to style — a floor, a room, a wall, a piece of furniture, a door or a window. Then open Design references in the inspection panel on the right.
Style — choose a general aesthetic direction. Good when you have a feel in mind but aren't looking for an exact match.
Finishes — pick specific materials and colors. On a floor you can set flooring, walls, ceiling, doors, windows and exterior walls separately.
You can apply any color anywhere, so there's nothing stopping you putting the exact finish you want on any surface.
What you select is what it applies to
Design references follow your selection. Set them on a floor and they apply across the whole floor. Set them on one room and only that room changes. Set them on a single piece of furniture and only that piece does.
That's how you give your kitchen one look and your living room another.
Bringing your own, in 3D
If Maket's library doesn't have what you're picturing, you can show it or describe it instead. Switch to 3D, frame the view you want, and use the render bar at the bottom of the screen.
Upload your own material or reference image — click into the prompt field to reveal the Attachment button (the paperclip) and attach your image. Maket applies what it sees.
Describe exactly what you want — type it into the prompt field. The more specific you are, the closer you'll get: name the materials, the finishes, the colors, the quality of the light.
You can do both at once — attach an image and describe what you want done with it.
You don't have to set anything
New plans start with no style applied. If you render without adding any references, Maket still styles the space with standard decoration, so you'll get a furnished, finished-looking result. References are how you take control of it.
