There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, because it depends on how much time you have, how complex the characters are, and whether you’re also studying words and sentences alongside them.
Here are some guidelines:
Follow your time and pace: Think about how much time you can consistently dedicate each day. Most learners find 1–2 hours per day effective.
If focusing only on characters: You might average around 15 characters per hour.
If also studying sentences and context: You’ll likely learn fewer characters per day—around 5 per hour—because some characters unlock multiple words and require extra practice.
Structure your study sessions: Start with reviews, then learn new characters, add them to your flashcard system (Traverse), and finish with a short review.
Be flexible: Some characters may unlock many words, so adjust based on what’s manageable and what gives you meaningful acquisition.
Reading vs. study time: Separate “study” sessions from “reading/immersion” sessions—reading should feel relaxed, while study focuses on active learning.
The key is to follow the course as it’s designed, pace yourself based on your available time, and make steady progress each day.
