As a seller, how do I create an auction for my product?

Updated over a week ago

Special Note: If your products are connected by a store datafeed, please do not create auctions this way. It will mess up things up between our connections. You should remove the item from both systems, then use the marketplace seller panel to create a new product, and then create an auction. This will eliminate issues where you are running it as an auction on our system, and a buy-it-now price on your website.

First, you should enter the product and assign it as a "Normal" product. You can not create an auction if the product was set to "Make An Offer Product".

You enter all the information in just like you would be listing it with only a Buy It Now option, including the price you would accept for the item. Be sure to set that price where you want it as all auctions allow buyers to purchase it before the first bid, and that purchase price is set when entering the product.

After the product is added, go to your product list. Find the product and on the right side hit the 3 dots under "Action". It will give you the option to "Create Auction". Up at the top right, it will have a button that says "Add Auction". Simply follow the steps from there.

By default, the auction duration and times are automatically set to 7 days. You can adjust this as you see fit if you want to schedule it in the future or do longer or shorter auctions.

"Base Price" is the starting bid, and by default is set to $0.99. You can set this wherever you like, however, be advised that the higher you are the less bids yo may receive to get started.

The "Reserve Price" is probably the most important field of the entire auction for you as a seller. By default, it is set to $0.99 but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you set this to a level you feel good about getting for the item. If nobody reaches it then you are not obligated to sell it. Auctions are extremely tricky because it depends on who is looking for that product at the time the auction is running. Though auctions are good for moving products without having to wait, they may not bring a seller market value or max value. "Reserve Price" needs to match the "Base Price" or be higher for the auction to be saved.

Once all the information is complete, simply hit "Save" if it is an auction you have set to start later or hit "Save & Start" if it is ready to go.
