Check what happens after a listing change

Keep a simple note and use Etsy Stats to review the result.

Written by Richie Peplin

Changed a title or tag? A short note will help you remember what you tried.

Before you edit

Save the old wording. Write down the date and one reason for the change.

For example: “My title didn't state the capacity. I added 12 oz.”

When you check back

Look at visits and orders in Etsy Stats. Compare similar periods, including the same weekdays where possible. Note anything else that changed, such as ads, stock or a seasonal rush.

A quiet listing may need more time than a busy one before there's much to compare. Rewriting it repeatedly makes the result harder to understand.

Choose your next step

  • Few visits: check whether your phrases fit what shoppers are looking for.

  • Visits but few orders: look at the photos, price, product details and delivery.

  • More orders: check whether ads, stock or another change also helped.

Keep the edit, revise it or return to your saved wording. A rise or fall alone can't tell you which change caused it.
