TRANSITIONING FROM WET FOOD TO MARRO

Tips for best success if your cat is used to eating wet food

Updated over a month ago

Switching your cat from wet food to Fresh is an exciting step toward giving them the very best. We know cats can be creatures of habit, so transitioning gently is the key to success. Here are some tried and tested tips from our experts to make the switch as smooth as possible.

DAY ONE: START SMALL AND TRY CHICKEN FIRST

Put a spoonful of gently warmed Succulent Chicken on a clean saucer. Be sure to remove their usual wet food and any other treats when serving.

You can warm your Marro meals by popping the pouch into warm water for 10 minutes, or into the microwave for 10 seconds.

Let your cat get curious at their own pace - they like to sniff things out! Don’t worry if they don’t dive in straight away, it's normal for day one. If your cat doesn't tuck in, that's fine - lift the food after 20 minutes and replace with their usual wet food.

DAY TWO: BUILD FAMILIARITY AND GRADUALLY INCREASE

If your cat ate some Marro on day one, happy days. Gradually increase the amount you're feeding at each meal time. Continue to stick with Succulent Chicken for now to help their stomach to adapt to the new food, and remove other food whilst serving.

If your cat didn't have a taster yesterday, repeat the day one steps. It's likely this time your cat will show some more interest as it's not so new and scary now.

DAY THREE: READY FOR THE FULL EXPERIENCE

Continue to gradually increase the amount of Marro until your cat is eating their full portion, and decrease the wet food. You can also start introducing your cat to some of the other recipes in your trial box.

Remember, cats have their own schedules. Even if it takes a few days (or weeks), keep offering Marro. They'll soon realise what they've been missing and give it a try.

Switching your cat to Fresh is a fantastic choice. Thanks to our human-grade ingredients and the careful way we cook and portion each meal, cats can absorb more nutrients. This often leads to noticeable health benefits, such as a shinier, glossier coat, better gut health (goodbye smelly poos), increased energy, and easier weight management.

So, if your cat isn't too sure about Marro yet, hang in there - it’s a small adjustment for long-term health and happiness.
