Switching Your Senior Cat to Marro
Switching to a fresh diet can improve digestion and vitality in senior cats, but older cats are sensitive to change - so a slow transition is essential.
Why Take It Slow
Cats enter their senior years around age 12. Gradual changes help them adjust comfortably while letting you monitor their response.
Why Chicken and Pork Only
Our Succulent Chicken and Scrumptious Pork recipes are tailored for senior cats to make the transition easier. Other recipes will be updated soon.
7–10 DAY TRANSITION PLAN
Days 1–3: Offer small spoonfuls of warmed chicken. Remove other food while serving. If your cat doesn’t try it, clear it away and try again tomorrow. Patience is key, don't worry if they don't take top it right away.
Days 4–7: Increase to 2–3 spoonfuls, continue warming slightly. Stick with Succulent Chicken, and continue warming it slightly, as older cats often respond better to food that’s closer to room (or body) temperature.
Day 8+: If all is well, serve the full recommended daily portion.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
During the transition, it’s good to keep an eye on how your cat is responding. Things to look out for include:
Changes in appetite
Poo consistency (looser or firmer than normal)
Shifts in behaviour or energy levels
Litter tray habits (going more/less frequently)
These can be part of the adjustment process. But if anything seems unusual or lasts more than a few days, please get in touch.
