We’re excited to share that all Marro pouches are now made from 100% recyclable LDPE (low-density polyethylene) plastic. This is part of our ongoing commitment as a B Corp to minimise our environmental impact while delivering the same quality meals your cat loves.
From pouch to box, every part of your Marro delivery is now 100% recyclable. Find out how to recycle all the different bits here.
How to recycle your pouches
While LDPE is fully recyclable, not all UK councils currently collect it through household recycling. Here’s how you can make sure your pouches get recycled:
Rinse the pouch after use to remove any leftover food.
Check your local council’s recycling guide. Some do accept LDPE in kerbside collections. You can check this here: https://www.recyclenow.com/repeat-the-cycle
If not, take them to a supermarket recycling point that accepts soft plastics (many large supermarkets do).
Why we made the change
You asked, we listened! Sustainable packaging is very important to our customers and to us, so we rolled up our sleeves and found a way to make every Marro pouch fully recyclable.
By switching to LDPE, we’ve made it possible for your cat’s empty dinner pouch to have a second life, instead of ending up in landfill.
As well as being recyclable, LDPE is completely food safe. It’s widely used for packaging because it keeps food fresh, safe, and tasty. We have had to work extra hard to make it sustain our cooking and freezing process, but we think that was worth the effort.
As a proud B Corp, caring for the planet is part of who we are. This change means more recycling, and a smaller carbon footprint.
One small change for dinner time, one big win for the planet.
