Switching your cat to a new food can feel like a big change, and it's normal for them to need at least 3 days to adjust. Cats can be picky eaters, and new textures, flavours, and smells can take some getting used to. But with patience and a little guidance, your cat will soon discover just how tasty and nutritious their new meals can be.
Here are some expert tips to help make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible:
DAY ONE: START SMALL WITH SUCCULENT CHICKEN
Start with a spoonful of warmed Succulent Chicken, served on a clean plate. Remove their current food and treats when serving so they can focus on the new meal.
To warm the food, simply place the pouch in warm water for 10 minutes or microwave it for about 10 seconds.
Allow your cat to explore at their own pace, let them sniff, nudge, and investigate! It's perfectly normal if they don’t dive in right away or show any interest. If they don't eat it, remove the food after 20 minutes and return their usual meal.
DAY TWO: INCREASE AMOUNTS AND ENCOURAGE EXPLORATION
If your cat tried a bit of Marro on day one, great! Gradually increase the portion size at each meal while sticking with the same recipe, Succulent Chicken. This will help their stomach adjust to the new food.
If they didn’t try it yet, repeat day one’s approach. By now, your cat may be more comfortable with the new food and willing to give it a try.
DAY THREE: BUILD FAMILIARITY AND GRADUALLY INCREASE
Continue increasing the amount of Marro at each meal, slowly replacing their old food. If your cat has become more familiar with the chicken, now is a good time to begin introducing some of the other recipes in your trial box to offer variety.
Remember, cats have their own eating rhythms, so don’t worry if it takes a bit longer for your cat to fully adjust. With consistency and a little patience, they’ll soon realise how delicious their new meals are.
Stay motivated for long-term health benefits
Switching to fresh food is a fantastic choice for your cat’s health. Marro is made with human-grade ingredients, gently cooked to retain nutrients that support their overall health and happiness. You may notice benefits like a shinier coat, better digestion (including less smelly poos), increased energy, and even easier weight management.
