What can I do if I don’t have windscreen cover?

Find out your options for repairing or replacing glass if your Marshmallow policy doesn’t include windscreen cover.

What does it mean to not have windscreen cover?

If your Marshmallow plan is Lightest or Essential and you didn’t purchase the Windscreen Protection add-on when you bought your policy, you are not covered for windscreen or car window damage.

This means that any damage to your windscreen—such as chips, cracks, or a shattered window—won’t be paid for by your insurance policy. You’ll need to arrange and pay for the repair or replacement yourself.

What are your options without cover?

If you don’t have windscreen cover and need to repair or replace your glass, here’s what you can do:

1. Use a third-party repair service

Many of our customers in the same position choose trusted providers like:

These companies specialise in glass repairs and can usually help quickly. Be sure to:

  • Ask for a quote before booking

  • Read their terms and conditions

  • Check their availability for mobile or garage appointments

2. Pay privately through your chosen garage

You can also use a local repair garage. Let them know the type of damage and get a price for:

  • Chip repair

  • Full windscreen or side glass replacement

  • Rear window repair

Important to know

  • This won’t affect your No Claims Discount because you're not making an insurance claim.

  • You’ll need to cover the full cost yourself, as Marshmallow won’t be able to reimburse any part of the bill.

  • Windscreen protection can’t be added mid-policy. You’ll need to wait until your next renewal to add it.
