Yes, you still need to report the incident
Even if you don’t plan to claim for repairs, you must let us know within 48 hours if:
Another vehicle, person or property was involved.
You exchanged details with someone else.
There’s a chance they might claim against you later.
Call our 24-hour Claims line on 0800 060 8622.
What’s a notification-only claim?
This is how we log an incident without taking any action on repairs or costs.
Here’s what happens:
You report the details of the incident to us.
We don’t repair your car or process a payout.
The incident is logged, just in case it’s needed in future.
This protects you if someone later tries to make a claim against you—even if they said they wouldn’t.
Why reporting matters
Not reporting an incident (especially one involving others) could:
Affect your cover in future.
Make it harder for us to support you if something changes.
Put you at risk of breaching your policy terms.
Do I need to tell you about cancelling a claim I’ve already started for my vehicle?
Yes, you can cancel a claim that you've started — but there are important things to check before you do:
Repairs must not have started: You can only cancel the claim if the repair work on your vehicle hasn’t begun.
You might need to pay for some costs: If any expenses have already been incurred (like assessments or parts ordered), you may be responsible for covering these.
Your No Claims Bonus may be affected: To avoid losing your No Claims Bonus, you’ll need to cancel the claim before any costs are charged to your insurer.
If you're unsure whether you're eligible to cancel, or what charges might apply, it's best to get in touch with our claims team as soon as possible.
