Why do I still owe monthly payments after making a claim?

This article is for monthly-paying policyholders who have made a claim (excluding total loss claims).

Updated over a week ago

If you’ve made a claim and noticed that your monthly payments are still being collected, this is expected. Here’s why that happens and what you need to do.

Your monthly payments continue during a claim

When you choose to pay monthly, you're paying your annual insurance premium in smaller instalments throughout the year. Making a claim does not cancel this obligation—you are still using the insurance service you signed up for.

Key things to know:

  • Your monthly payments cover the total cost of your annual insurance policy.

  • Submitting a claim means you’re using the insurance product, and payment for that usage is still required.

  • Your policy remains active while your claim is being processed, so monthly payments will continue unless your policy is cancelled.

What if I miss a payment during my claim?

If you’ve missed a payment or received a payment deadline from us, it’s important to pay by that date. Even during a claim, failure to pay on time could result in:

  • Suspension of your cover.

  • Cancellation of your policy.

  • Delays or complications with your claim.
