Home Start is included as part of National Recovery and European Breakdown Cover from the AA. It covers breakdowns that happen:
At your home address
Within ¼ mile of your home
If you have Roadside Cover only:
You won’t be covered if you break down near your home. Your cover starts once you're more than ¼ mile away.
What can I do if I don’t have Home Start?
Currently, we can’t upgrade your Breakdown Cover after your policy has started. If you need Home Start and don’t have it:
Some customers buy separate cover through providers like the RAC. Be sure to check their terms first.
Others choose to cancel and take out a new Marshmallow policy with National or European cover included.
If you choose to get a new policy:
Your price may change.
You’ll go through verification again.
Home Start only covers future breakdowns—not ones that have already happened.
