How do I buy a new policy?
Becoming a customer is easy and it only takes a few minutes.
Here are the steps to buying a Marshmallow policy:
1. Get a quote
Go to our homepage, click on ‘get a quote’ and then enter your details. At this point, you can decide whether to buy our Marshmallow Lightest, Essential, Original, or Plus plan. It only takes a few minutes.
2. Choose a payment method
You will make an initial payment, which is a portion of your premium and then can choose to pay for your insurance monthly or annually.
3. ID Check
After you give us your payment details, you will need to do an ID check with Onfido, our verification partners. We will send a link to your phone for you to do this so please make sure your phone number is correct for this purpose. You have 6 days to complete your ID check and your policy is not active until this has been done.
For the ID check, you will need to upload:
Your ID document
A photo of your passport or a photo of your driving license (front and back)
Make sure all four corners of the document are in the photo
Scans will not be accepted
Your selfie:
A photo of yourself, taken by you, head-on
Edited selfies or selfies with filters will not be accepted
4. Receive policy documents
When your ID check has been processed (you can try 3 times to get it right), you will get a confirmation text and you'll be good to go. We will also send policy documents to the email address you signed up with. You may need to check your spam folder because our policy documents can sometimes end up in there (annoyingly).
5. Proof of No Claims Discount (NCD)
We may need more information from you, but please don't worry, our checks won't interrupt your insurance cover. For example, if you have declared any NCD we will ask you to upload proof of your NCD document so that we can verify this and keep your discount in place.
6. Proof of address/occupation and V5
Sometimes, we may also need to ask for proof of any of the above; don't worry though, this is quite common practice! It just means we can tick all the boxes to make sure the information we have for you is 100% accurate.
