What should I do if my mileage is higher than expected?

This article is for Marshmallow customers who need to understand, update, or manage the mileage on their car insurance policy.

Updated this week

What does “mileage” mean on my policy?

The mileage on your Marshmallow policy is the number of miles you expect to drive in a year.

  • During the quote process, we ask you to estimate this.

  • Mileage matters because someone who drives daily for long hours is more likely to have an accident than a driver who rarely uses their car.

What happens if I exceed my mileage?

If you drive more than the mileage stated on your policy:

  • Your details will not match what was originally quoted.

  • In the event of a claim, we’ll check your details, including mileage. If your mileage is incorrect, your claim may not be valid.

That’s why it’s important to keep your mileage up to date.
