Why We Ask for Proof of Address

We ask for proof of address to verify your identity and ensure we have up-to-date contact information. This helps us evaluate risk when calculating premiums.

Accepted Proof of Address Documents

You can provide any of the following documents from the past 90 days that clearly show your name and address:

  • Recent utility bill (gas, electricity, water, telephone - not mobile phone)

  • Mortgage statement

  • Council tax bill

  • Tenancy agreement

  • Letter from the Department for Work and Pensions

  • Electoral Registration Letter

  • Letter from HMRC

  • Loan or credit agreement letter

  • Student accommodation letter

  • Bank statements (excluding online banks)

You can send photographs of the full document or a PDF. We might ask you to upload the original PDF document.


Unaccepted Proof of Address Documents

We cannot accept the following documents as proof of address:

  • V5 (we may ask for this separately)

  • No claims discount documents

  • Driving licences

  • Mobile phone bills

  • Documents that do not state the date

  • DVLA documents

  • Payslips that do not state your address

  • Bank statements with recently modified addresses

  • Bank statements from online banks


FAQ

Should I update my address if I move?

Yes, you need to update us if any details on your policy change. Your policy might be invalidated in the event of a claim if your address isn't up to date.

I don't have any proof of address

If you cannot provide any of the listed documents, please speak to a member of our customer support team.
