Do Marshmallow policies cover delivery driving?

No. Our policies do not cover commercial use. This means you cannot use your vehicle for:

  • Food deliveries (e.g. takeaways, groceries, meal services)

  • Parcel deliveries

  • Leaflet drops or courier services

  • Any other work-related deliveries

What cover does Marshmallow offer instead?

We provide cover for personal and commuting use only:

  • SDP (Social, Domestic & Pleasure) – for everyday personal driving.

  • SDPC (Social, Domestic, Pleasure & Commuting) – includes commuting to a single workplace.

  • Business Class 1 (BC1) – allows commuting to multiple workplaces (cars only).

  • Carriage of Own Goods (COOG) – for van drivers carrying their own work-related tools or equipment.

These options do not cover deliveries or any type of commercial driving.

What if I want to start working as a delivery driver?

If you plan to use your vehicle for deliveries, you will need to:

  1. Cancel your Marshmallow policy

    • Cancelling within 14 days: £30 admin fee

    • Cancelling after 14 days: cancellation fee of up to £125, depending on your plan

  2. Take out a commercial insurance policy with another provider that includes delivery cover (sometimes called hire & reward insurance).

Can I keep my Marshmallow policy if I don’t drive for deliveries?

Yes — you can keep your policy active as long as:

  • You are not working as a delivery driver or taxi driver in any capacity

  • You are not using your vehicle for commercial purposes

Why does this matter?

Driving for deliveries without the correct cover means:

  • Any claim made would not be paid

  • You may be driving uninsured, which is against the law‍
