Before you create a quiz we recommend that you have previously created at least one regular assignment (not in quiz mode) and completed it with your students. If you are not sure exactly how to do this yet, read this guide! Once you have completed a regular assignment with your students, you can revisit the quiz mode.
Follow the steps below!
1. The teacher creates a quiz
The quiz mode is a setting that you as a teacher can control in the last step when you're creating an assignment. When you turn on the quiz mode the students will no longer get immediate feedback on if they answered correctly or not, or be able to look at the answer to the question while working with the assignment.
2. The quiz is now created
Both the teacher and the student can now see the quiz at the top under the Assignments-tab. The assignment is purple instead of blue, this means it is a quiz and not a regular assignment.
On teacher account:
The quiz is purple and there is an option to Start it.
On student account:
The quiz is purple. If the student clicks on the quiz they won't be able to enter it. The teacher has to start the quiz first.
3. The teacher starts the quiz
When the teacher clicks Start, the quiz opens for the students and they can start working. In the quiz mode the students will not get immediate feedback if the answer is right or wrong (as they do in a regular assignment in the form of red, yellow, or green comments), they simply submit their answer and click Next.
During a quiz the students will be able to see a purple circle that shows how much of the quiz they have completed, but they will not be able to see how they have done, as they usually can with regular assignments.
4. Pausing the quiz
The quiz is stopped when the teacher pauses it. When the teacher pauses the quiz, the student can no longer answer the questions.
If the teacher pauses the quiz, it will be stopped for ALL students. The teacher can choose to re-start the exam at a later date.
To pause the quiz, go to the heatmap by clicking on the assignment, and then click Pause.
5. The teacher ends the quiz
This feature makes it possible for students to see their results and what they did correctly and what they did wrong. This is just like handing back an assessed quiz to your students.
On teacher account:
To end the quiz, go to the heatmap by clicking on the assignment, and then click End.
If you do not want your students to be able to see how they did on the quiz, you simply do not have to end it, then pausing the quiz is enough. You can still see the students' results in the heatmap, just like a regular assignment.
If the teacher chooses to end the quiz, the students will be able to see if they got the questions right or wrong. The purple circle will then look like it does on a regular assignment. The students will also be able to enter back into the quiz and go through their solutions and answers.
You can also start, pause, and end the quiz for individual students in the Status settings, for example, if some students are done before others and you want to share their results.
