On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, the County of Maui Department of Planning hosted an online community meeting to share and discuss draft commercial design guidelines for rebuilding Lahaina’s commercial properties. The one-hour webinar—presented with consultants Opticos Design—covered the guidelines’ purpose, scope, and key elements, and gave community members, property owners, and other stakeholders a chance to learn more and ask questions. Additional meetings next month will offer opportunities for written and oral testimony as the draft guidelines move forward.
