Consignor profile — how Maxanet consignors create items, view settlements, and log in

Maxanet consignors get an admin-created profile with Items and Settlement tabs; they can upload items but cannot create auctions.

Overview

A Maxanet Consignor account is created by the admin (not through public registration) and gets its own public-facing profile with tabs for managing items and viewing settlement reports. Consignors can upload their own inventory items and photos, but cannot create auctions — the admin still controls which items get assigned to which auction. Consignors can also be dual-role (consignor + bidder) if they also want to bid.

How consignor accounts are created

Consignor accounts can only be created by the admin, in one of two ways. Option 1: on the Users page, click the green Add button, select Consignor from the role dropdown, fill in the required details, and save. The consignor receives an email with their user number and password. Option 2: if a user is already registered as a bidder, the admin can search for them on the Users page, click the 3-dot Actions menu, and select Create as Consignor to add the consignor role on top of the existing bidder role. Dual-role users keep their existing login credentials and see both bidder and consignor menus.

How a consignor logs in and opens their profile

Consignors use the same login flow as bidders — click Login in the upper-right corner of the auction site's public pages, enter their user number and password, then click their user number again and select View Profile from the dropdown. Consignor profiles have an Items tab and a Settlement tab by default.

Items tab — what consignors can see and do

The Items tab lets consignors create their own inventory items, view the number of bids each item has received, see the current bid price, and check each item's status (sold vs unsold). Consignors can upload photos for their items. However, consignors cannot create auctions themselves — only the admin can create auctions and assign consigned items to them.

Settlement tab — viewing and downloading settlement reports

The Settlement tab lets consignors view and download their settlement reports after the admin approves them. Until the admin clicks Approve on a settlement report in their admin panel, the consignor cannot see the settlement in their profile.

How to limit consignor features via Roles & Permissions

If the admin wants to restrict what consignors can do, go to Admin → Go To Admin → Roles & Permissions, edit the Consignor role, and turn off specific features. For example, you can remove the ability for consignors to view settlement reports, or prevent them from adding/editing items. Useful when consignors should only be able to see items, not manage them.

Common questions

Can a consignor create their own auction?

No. Consignors can create inventory items and upload photos, but only the admin can create auctions and assign items to them.

How does a consignor log in?

Same way as a bidder — Login link in the upper-right corner of the public pages, using the user number and password Maxanet emailed them when the admin created the account.

Can the same user be both a consignor and a bidder?

Yes. Use Create as Consignor from the Users page Actions menu to add the consignor role to an existing bidder. Dual-role users see both bidder and consignor menu options.

Can I restrict what consignors can see or do?

Yes. Go to Admin → Go To Admin → Roles & Permissions, edit the Consignor role, and turn features off. Common restrictions include hiding settlement reports or disabling item creation.

How do consignors see their payout amounts?

Through the Settlement tab on their public profile, but only after the admin has approved the settlement report. Unapproved settlements are hidden.
