Overview

Every Maxanet bidder must agree to two separate Terms and Conditions: Bidder Registration T&C (agreed once at registration and re-agreed if the admin updates them) and Auction-level T&C (agreed per auction before the first bid). Having both lets you state site-wide rules once at signup and set auction-specific rules individually. This article covers how to create and update each set of Terms, and what happens when you change them.

How to set up the New Bidder Registration Terms and Conditions

To create or modify the Terms that every new bidder agrees to at registration, open Admin → Users → Terms and Conditions in your Maxanet Admin panel. This page has an input box where you enter your registration-level T&C. During the new-bidder signup flow, Maxanet forces the bidder to check a box confirming they agree — the checkbox has a hyperlink so bidders can read and download the full Terms before agreeing.

What happens when you update the Bidder Registration T&C

If the admin changes or updates the Bidder Registration T&C, Maxanet will force every previously-registered bidder to re-agree to the new version the next time they log in. This protects you legally by ensuring every active bidder has accepted the most current Terms.

How to set up Auction-level Terms and Conditions

To set the Terms specific to a single auction, go to Admin → Auctions, open either a Current or Draft auction, and find the Add/Edit Auction page (the same page where you set the auction title and end date). Scroll down to the Terms input box and enter the auction-level Terms. When a registered bidder places their first bid in this auction, Maxanet forces them to read through and agree to these Terms before the bid is accepted.

What happens when you update Auction-level T&C mid-auction

If you update an auction-level T&C while the auction is live, Maxanet will force every bidder to re-agree to the new Terms the next time they try to place a bid. Already-placed bids are not removed — bidders simply have to click through the new Terms before their next bid goes in.

Common questions

Why does Maxanet have two separate Terms and Conditions?

Registration T&C cover site-wide rules every bidder agrees to at signup (payment terms, dispute process, cancellation policies, etc.). Auction-level T&C cover rules that vary per auction (pickup locations, specific pickup dates, item-specific warranties, etc.).

If I update my Terms, will existing bidders be forced to agree again?

Yes. Registration T&C updates force re-agreement on next login. Auction T&C updates force re-agreement on the bidder's next bid in that specific auction.

How can I see a copy of the exact Terms a bidder agreed to?

Open the bidder's profile from the Users page — there are Auction T&C History and Bidder T&C History menu options that show every agreed-to version with timestamps and download links. Critical for chargeback defense.

Can I have multiple sets of Auction T&C for different auctions?

Yes. Each auction has its own Terms field — you can have entirely different Terms for different auctions, different locations, different item types.
