Maxanet offers SMS text message outbid notifications so bidders can get real-time alerts when they're outbid on an item. As of July 2023, Maxanet provides 2,500 text messages per calendar month at no additional cost, with no recurring service fee. Above 2,500 messages, the cost is $0.025 per message (2.5 cents) added to your monthly Maxanet invoice. Each client gets their own unique 'from' phone number not shared with other clients.

Every Maxanet client using SMS outbid notifications gets their own unique 'from' phone number that text messages are sent from. These numbers are not shared with other clients, so bidders can associate the number with your specific auction business.

Request SMS outbid notifications for your account by emailing support@maxanet.com or using the Live Chat feature in your Maxanet admin panel. Maxanet's team will provision your unique 'from' number and enable the feature.

Once Maxanet enables SMS for your account, go to Admin → Go To Admin → Roles & Permissions → Bidder and click the wrench icon to edit bidder permissions. Check the Subscribe to Text SMS Alerts box. This allows your existing bidders to opt in or out of SMS notifications through their public Bidder Profile → Communications tab.

Once SMS is enabled, your new-bidder registration form automatically includes an opt-in checkbox for SMS alerts, with a disclaimer about carrier data rates the bidder may incur. New bidders can uncheck the box during registration if they don't want SMS notifications.

Existing bidders can opt in or out by logging into their public Bidder Profile and navigating to the Communications tab, where they'll find a Subscribe to Text SMS Alerts checkbox. They can also reply to any SMS message with the word STOP to unsubscribe — standard SMS compliance behavior. Admins can also bulk-update the entire bidder list to opt-in at your request, and can opt-in or opt-out individual bidders from the admin panel.
