Overview

Maxanet's First-Bid Form lets you ask bidders custom questions the first time they try to place a bid in a specific auction. Answers are stored on each bidder's profile and can be exported to Excel for review. This is different from the Registration Questions that appear during bidder signup — First-Bid Form questions are per-auction and specifically shown just before the bidder's first bid in that event.

Prerequisite: create Registration Questions under Configurations

First-Bid Form uses the same question pool as the Registration Questions feature. Create your custom questions under Admin → Configurations → Registration Questions first. The available question types are Text Input Box, Radio Button, Drop Down, Multiple Choice Checkbox, and Single Checkbox. See the Registration Questions article for details on each type.

How to attach questions to a specific auction's First-Bid Form

Open the auction dashboard for the auction where you want to use First-Bid Form. Click the First-Bid Form tab. Add the custom questions you want bidders to answer — you can mark questions as Required (bidders cannot continue until they answer) or optional.

What bidders see when they place their first bid

When a bidder tries to place their first bid in the auction, Maxanet displays a pop-up window with the list of First-Bid Form questions. Required questions must be answered before the bid goes through; optional questions can be skipped. Once they submit the form, their bid is accepted and they can continue bidding in the auction without seeing the questions again.

How to review bidder answers to First-Bid Form questions

In the auction dashboard, click the Bidders tab. Each bidder row has a dropdown arrow on the far left — click it to expand the row and see that bidder's answers to the First-Bid Form questions. For bulk review, click the green Export button on the Bidders tab to download all bidders and their First-Bid Form answers as an Excel file.

Common questions

How is First-Bid Form different from Registration Questions?

Registration Questions are global — they appear at bidder signup and apply across all auctions. First-Bid Form is per-auction — bidders answer when they first bid in a specific auction, and different auctions can have different First-Bid Forms.

Can I make First-Bid Form questions required?

Yes. When adding a question to the First-Bid Form tab, check the Required option — bidders cannot place their first bid without answering.

Do returning bidders see the First-Bid Form every time?

No. Bidders see the form only once — the first time they place a bid in that specific auction. Their answers are stored on their profile for that auction.

Can I export the answers across all bidders?

Yes. Click the Export button on the Bidders tab of the auction dashboard to download an Excel file with all bidders and their First-Bid Form responses.

Can I use the same question across different auctions?

Yes. Questions are created once in Configurations → Registration Questions and can be added to any auction's First-Bid Form tab.
