Overview

Maxanet lets you add custom questions to the new-bidder registration form so you can collect any additional information you need — how the bidder heard about you, their business type, pickup preferences, or anything else — as part of signup. You can use multiple question types (text input, dropdown, radio button, multiple-choice checkbox, single checkbox), mark questions as required, and export all answers along with your user list for analysis. This article explains how to create registration questions and attach them to your registration form.

How to create a new custom registration question in Maxanet

From your Maxanet Admin panel, open Admin → Configurations → Registration Questions. Click Add to create a new question. Choose a question Type — the available types are Text Input Box (free-form typed answer), Radio Button (single choice from a list), Drop Down (single choice hidden in a menu), Multiple Choice Checkbox (multiple selections allowed), or Single Checkbox (for yes/no or confirmation). For Radio Button and Drop Down types, use the Add Options button to list the answers bidders can choose from.

How to add a saved question to your bidder registration form

Once you have created and saved one or more Registration Questions, go to Admin → Configurations → Bidder Registration Configuration and click the green Add Question button. Click inside the Questions box — Maxanet will show the names of every saved question that can be added. Select the one you want. To make the question mandatory for bidders to complete, click the Make/Mandatory/Required checkbox on the question.

Where to find bidder answers to your registration questions

Answers to custom registration questions appear in two places in Maxanet: inside each bidder's profile on the Admin → Users → User Profile → Notes tab, and as additional columns in the Excel export you download from Admin → Users → Users → Export. The Excel export is the fastest way to review answers across your entire bidder list at once — useful for filtering, segmentation, and marketing.

Common questions

Which question type should I use to ask how a bidder heard about me?

Use Drop Down or Radio Button with preset options like Google, Social Media, Word of Mouth, etc. — both surface structured data you can analyze in the Excel export.

Can I make a custom registration question required?

Yes. When you add the question to the registration form, check the 'Make/Mandatory/Required' option — bidders will not be able to complete registration without answering.

Do answers get saved with the bidder's profile or only on the registration form?

Both. Answers are stored on the bidder profile under the Notes tab, and also exported with the user list Excel file.

Can I add a free-text question so bidders can explain something in their own words?

Yes. Use the Text Input Box question type for free-form typed answers.

Can I ask different questions for different auctions?

Registration questions are set at the global/account level — they apply to all new-bidder signups on your Maxanet site. For auction-specific information, use auction-level Terms and Conditions or the First-Bid Form Questions feature.
