For clients who are using MaxanetPay to process credit card payments, the following is a list of prohibited items that cannot be sold on the platform:

  1. Any product, service or activity that is deceptive, unfair, predatory, or prohibited by one or more Card Brands

  2. Any Merchant selling goods or services that represent a violation of any law, statute, or regulation

  3. Any Merchant operating outside the United States

  4. Any Merchant or submerchant submitting sales for payment that resulted from another commercial entity providing goods or services to the cardholder, including those businesses that may otherwise qualify themselves as a Payment Facilitator

  5. Any Merchant selling products that infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, including counterfeit goods or any product or service that infringes on the copyright, trademark, or trade secrets of any third party, such as many Cyberlockers

  6. Any Merchant accepting a card as payment for a dishonored check or for an item deemed uncollectible by another merchant

  7. Any Merchant that accepts a card at a scrip-dispensing terminal

  8. Adult entertainment, adult retail stores, and/or adult content websites including Electronic Commerce adult content (videotext) merchants that may include MCCs 5967, 7273 and 7841

  9. Bestiality

  10. Bidding Fee Auctions including Penny Auctions

  11. Brand or Reputational damaging, potential or otherwise, activities including Child Pornography, Escort Services, Mail Order Brides, Occult

  12. Collection Agencies

  13. Commodity Trading or Security Trading

  14. Credit Counseling or Credit Repair Services

  15. Credit Protection or Identity Theft Protection Services

  16. Cruise Lines

  17. Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.)

  18. Currency Exchanges or Dealers

  19. Debt Elimination, Debt Reduction or Debt Consulting Services

  20. Digital Wallet or Prepaid Companies

  21. Direct Marketing: Continuity or Subscription services or merchants including MCC 5968 and 5969

  22. Direct Marketing-Travel Related Arrangement Services including MCC 5962

  23. Direct Marketing-Inbound Telemarketing including videotext services and MCC 5967

  24. Discount Buying Memberships/Clubs

  25. Discount Medical or Dental plans including Discount Insurance

  26. Discount Coupon Merchants or Online Sites

  27. Distressed Property Sales and/or Marketing

  28. Drug Paraphernalia

  29. CNP Tobacco, e-Cigarettes and “Vape” supplies and accessories

  30. Firearms and weapons including Ammunition, Silencers, Components and Suppressors

  31. Gambling Activities and Establishments including MCC 7995, lotteries, internet gaming, daily fantasy sports, contests, sweepstakes, “special incentives,” or offering of prizes as an inducement to purchase goods or services

  32. High interest rate non-bank consumer lending with an APR >30% including, but not limited to, payday lending and title loans

  33. Infomercial merchants

  34. Internet/Mail Order Pharmacies

  35. Investment or “get rich quick” merchants, businesses, or programs and inclusive of Brokers and Dealers

  36. Loan payments conducted on a Visa-branded credit card

  37. Marijuana dispensaries and related products or services that contain CBDs or provide access to CBDs

  38. Money Transfer, Wire Transfers, Money Orders, Transmitters, and Check Cashing including merchants required to be registered as Money Service Business

  39. Multi-Level Marketing Businesses

  40. “Negative option” marketing, renewal, or continuity subscription practices; marketing activities involving low-dollar trails, “pay only for shipping,” and/or “free trial” periods after which a credit card is charged periodically and/or a significantly larger amount

  41. Outbound Telemarketers and Telecom merchants within MCCs 4814, 4816, and 5966

  42. Pawn Shops

  43. Payment Facilitators

  44. Prepaid Phone Cards

  45. Prepaid Phone Services

  46. Pseudo Pharmaceuticals

  47. Psychics and “occult” businesses

  48. Quasi-Cash or Stored Value

  49. Real Estate Flipping

  50. Rebate-Based Businesses

  51. Sale of Mobile Minutes

  52. Selling or Sales of Social Media Activity

  53. Sports Forecasting or Odds Making

  54. Substances designed to mimic illegal drugs

  55. Timeshares, including resales and related marketing

  56. Transacting Virtual Currency or credits that can be monetized, re-sold, or converted to physical or digital goods or services or otherwise exit the virtual world

  57. Tribal Entities (ie: American Indian Tribes)

  58. Up-Selling Merchants
