How to Export Your Clinical Notes

Updated this week

Maxly makes it easy to export your clinical notes as professional PDF or editable Word documents.

Accessing the Export Feature

Export All Notes

Export Patient-Specific Notes

  • Go to a patient's folder from the dashboard.

  • Click the "Export" button in the patient header.

  • This pre-filters notes for that patient.

Export Formats

PDF Document:

  • Best for: Printing, sharing, or archiving.

  • Features: Professional formatting, table of contents, confidentiality footer, and page breaks between patients.

Word Document (.docx):

  • Best for: Editing or collaborative review.

  • Features: Editable text with headers, tables, and structured sections, compatible with Microsoft Word.

Troubleshooting

  • "No notes to export": Ensure notes exist or include archived ones; verify folder access.

  • Export takes time: Large exports (100+ notes) may take 30-60 seconds—don't close the browser.

  • Download fails: Check browser download settings, allow pop-ups, or try a different browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox).

  • Formatting issues: PDFs are optimized for viewing; Word files allow post-export edits.
