Whether you require a session summary or specific details, the Maxly Assistant delivers answers based on encounter data.
What Is the Maxly AI Assistant?
The AI Assistant is a built-in feature that lets you ask questions about a specific patient encounter or across all encounters for a given patient. It's designed to:
Provide summaries of key information (e.g., past diagnoses, medication history).
Highlight important observations from the session.
Offer suggestions for follow-up appointments tailored to the patient.
The AI Assistant only uses data from your Maxly sessions, ensuring privacy and compliance standards.
How to Use the AI Assistant
Step 1: Access the AI Assistant
Log In: Sign in to your Maxly account at https://secure.maxly.vet/en/sign-in.
Open a Note: Navigate to a clinical note (e.g., a demo note or a past encounter) from your dashboard or patient profile.
Find the AI Assistant: On the note page, look for the "AI Assistant" tab on the right sidebar. Click to open it.
Step 2: Ask Questions About the Encounter
The AI Assistant can answer questions based on the specific session you're viewing. Here are some examples:
Encounter-Specific Questions:
"What could be the underlying cause of the patient's vomiting and weight loss?"
"What medications were mentioned in this session?"
"What follow-up actions were suggested?"
Type Your Question: Enter your question in the text box at the bottom of the AI Assistant panel (e.g., "Ask anything...").
Get an Answer: The AI will respond with a concise answer based on the encounter's transcription and clinical note. For example, it might identify a potential diagnosis or list medications discussed.
Step 3: Explore Insights Across Encounters
If the note is assigned to a patient, you can ask questions about the patient's history:
Cross-Encounter Questions:
"What trends do I see in this patient's weight over the last 6 months?"
"List all medications prescribed to this patient in the past year."
"Summarize this patient's past diagnoses."
Access the Patient Dashboard: From the note, click the patient's name to view their dedicated dashboard. This dashboard shows all encounters and key metrics like weight, temperature, and heart rate.
Ask the AI: Use the AI Assistant from the patient dashboard to ask questions about the patient's history across all encounters.
Step 4: Review AI-Generated Insights
The AI Assistant also provides proactive insights in the "Insights" section of each note:
Key Observations: Highlights important details from the encounter, such as abnormal vitals or symptoms that may require attention.
Follow-Up Suggestions: Offers recommendations for next steps, like scheduling a follow-up appointment or ordering specific diagnostic tests.
Private Notes: During real-time transcription, Maxly may save private notes for your review later. These might include details not mentioned by the client but flagged by the AI for your consideration.
Querying Uploaded Document Attachments
If you've uploaded supporting documents to an encounter—such as lab results, imaging reports, or referral letters—the AI Assistant can reference them when answering your questions during the session.
Upload Documents: Attach files (PDFs, Word documents, text files, or images) to the Notes and Context section of your encounter. Maxly extracts the text from your uploads to use as context.
Ask Questions About Attachments: Once extraction is complete (shown by a green checkmark on the attachment), you can ask the AI Assistant questions like:
"What were the key findings in the lab report?"
"Summarize the referral letter from the specialist."
"Are there any abnormal values in the uploaded test results?"
"What medications are listed in the uploaded records?"
The AI draws from your uploaded documents, the encounter transcription, and your notes to help answer your questions. As with all AI-generated responses, verify the output against the original source documents. For more on uploading files, see our How to Upload and Use Document Attachments in Maxly article.
Tips for Using the AI Assistant
Be Specific: Ask clear, focused questions to get the most relevant answers (e.g., "What was the patient's chief complaint?" instead of "Tell me about the patient").
Combine with Insights: Use the AI Assistant alongside the "Insights" section to get a comprehensive view of the encounter.
Leverage for Follow-Ups: Use the AI's follow-up suggestions to streamline your care plan and ensure continuity of care for your patients.
