Like reliable, compliant, streamlined tools?
There are a lot of great reasons to offer your customers Meadow's integrated payment option. Some of the benefits include:
Larger cart sizes - Customers spend significantly more (around 20-30% on average) when they have the option to pay by card.
Happier customers - Forget to bring enough money to the store? Being able to pay by card lowers the bounce rate and increases transaction speeds, letting customers get what they want and get through the store faster.
Reduce mistakes - Who hasn't hit a wrong key before? Integrated payments charge to the penny and pass the exact amount between the POS and the terminal, and lets the customer review the total before paying. No more irate over-charged customers.
Tips! - Integrated payments make it easier for your customers to tip their favorite budtenders for great service, giving more incentives and boosting average pay.
Compliance - Don't get shut down on a Friday afternoon (or 4/20) for using a shady workaround or service that is hiding what they're doing from the bank. When these services close, they'll probably take some of your money with them. By using a compliant processor, you also significantly reduce the risk of disputes or chargebacks by customers.
How do I get set up with the debit integration?
Not using integrated payments yet? Get started by reaching out in the Meadow help chat or email success@getmeadow.com with a phone number where you (or the right person on your team) can be reached and we'll put you in touch today. Or you can fill out this form and we'll take it from there.
Already using 2Accept? Follow these steps to get started
First, contact the 2Accept team at support@2accept.net to let them know you are ready to set up the integration - they will schedule a time to make the switch. Once that is complete, follow the steps below.
Next, make sure you have debit as a payment method created in Meadow Admin > Settings > Payment types. If not, create a new payment type called "Debit" - Once created, to enable this at point of sale, close the Meadow app and reopen it.
โNote: If your debit terminal is already set up to automatically add a payment fee, you will not need to add it as a payment type fee in Meadow's settings.Turn on your debit terminal - you should see "Listening for transaction..." at the bottom of the screen, along with a red gear in the bottom left. If you do not see this, you may need to restart the terminal to see it.
Click on the red gear icon in the bottom left corner. This will bring up an "Enter Password" box that shows a TPN number. By default, the password will be the last 4 digits of the displayed TPN.
You will now see a Settings list. Click "SPIN" from the list. Now you can see the Register ID and Auth Key. Write these down. Enter the Auth Key in Admin on the Payments tab under (Settings --> Integrations). Enter the Register ID at POS in the settings menu under Dejavoo Terminals.
Enter the Auth Key in Admin on the Payments tab under (Settings --> Integrations).
Enter the Register ID at POS in the settings menu under Dejavoo Terminals.
Next, select "Debit" as a payment type at POS to bring up the "Activate Debit Terminal" button (the payment type must be exactly named "Debit" in your payment type settings). Click it when the customer is ready to insert their card. That's it!
โ
NOTES
If the debit terminal doesn't appear at point of sale after entering the authorization code, confirm the authorization code was entered correctly. If it is correct, check for any available updates to the iOS and Meadow app.
The debit integration allows for customer tips, which can be enabled in your 2Accept account. The customer can directly select the tip percentage or click "custom" to enter a specific dollar amount to add to their charge.
If your debit terminal is already set up to automatically add a payment fee, you will not need to add it as a payment type fee in Meadow's settings.
If you allow customers to request cash back, you can select the amount for them at POS to make sure the cashier is aware. The selected cash back amount will be displayed to the customer on the debit terminal before completing the transaction.
You can continue to use an even dollar rounding strategy (always round down or normal rounding) for your "Debit" payment type, or you can disable rounding by setting this to "None" in your Order settings and charging the debit card to the exact penny.
The POS will continue to print receipts as before, but it is also possible to allow debit terminal receipts for the customer. If enabled, they will have the option of a paper receive, email or text when they complete the transaction.
