Troubleshooting your Measure Studio MCP connection

If your AI tool isn't connecting to Measure Studio or is returning errors, use this guide to diagnose and fix the most common issues.

The AI tool can't find the Measure Studio MCP server

Check: Make sure the MCP server URL is entered exactly as:

https://app.measure.studio/mcp

There should be no trailing slash or extra characters. In Claude Desktop, this goes in your claude_desktop_config.json under "url". In ChatGPT, it goes in the Connectors settings under the MCP server URL field.

Authorization fails or redirects to an error page

  1. Make sure you're logged into Measure Studio in your browser before starting the authorization flow

  2. Check that your Measure Studio account is on a paid plan — MCP is not available on free trials

  3. Try opening https://app.measure.studio in an incognito/private window to rule out a cached session issue

  4. If you use SSO, confirm your SSO session is active before re-attempting

The AI connects successfully but returns no data

  • Confirm that your Measure Studio workspace has connected social accounts with recent data

  • Check that you authorized the connection with the correct Measure Studio account (the one with access to the workspace you want)

  • Try asking for a specific platform and date range: "Show me Instagram data for last week"

The AI returns stale or outdated data

Measure Studio updates social data on a rolling basis. If data seems older than expected:

  1. Log into Measure Studio and check when data was last updated under Settings → Connected Accounts

  2. If an account shows a sync error, reconnect it and wait for the next data refresh before querying via MCP

  3. Note that some platforms (e.g., LinkedIn) have delayed data availability of up to 48 hours

I get a "token expired" or "unauthorized" error

Your MCP access token may have expired. To fix this:

  1. In your AI tool, disconnect and remove the Measure Studio MCP connection

  2. Re-authorize by following the setup steps in Connecting Measure Studio to Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client
