Interactive Map - How to mark exhibitor booths?

If you are organizing a trade show event, be sure to prepare an Interactive Map for your attendees! It is a tool that will allow the user to quickly find the relevant exhibitor booths on the exhibition site.

Adding an interactive map

To add the Interactive Map module to your application, in the Modules section by pressing the plus next to the name of this item, or by dragging it to the left column. Then go to the next step - Content. In the side menu, select the Interactive Map module, to create the first map click (+) Add New Interactive Map. In the editing window that opens, enter a name for the map - it will be important especially if you plan to add more than one map. The floor number can be used as the name, such as 1st Floor , 2nd Floor, or the name of the building if the event is located in several different locations.

Then, in the Map Editor field, insert a photo showing the horizontal projection of the building. Confirm the addition of the file with the Save Changes button.

Recommended map image sizes:

  • JPG or PNG extension,

  • optimal resolution is 1920 px by 1080 px,

  • the orientation of the image is arbitrary;

  • we recommend vertical layout,

  • file size should not exceed 10MB.

NOTE!

You can change the map image at any time. If you need to, go to edit the map and select Change image in the upper right corner, then add a new image according to the same guidelines. The drawn stands will remain intact, so in order to preserve their proportions, we recommend that the new file be similar in size to the original one:

Edit map

On the screen of all added maps, select the multiple dot in the row of the map where you want to make changes, then click Edit map.

  • Navigate the map - you can zoom in and out of the map view using the mouse roll. Selecting the pencil icon on the top bar of the window will move the map using the right mouse button, while using the left mouse button you can move the map regardless of the selected icon.

  • Drawing objects on the map - on the top bar of the window, select the shape of the object you want to draw - square, ellipse or multicorner. To draw an ellipse or square, click the right mouse button and drag the cursor to obtain the specified shape size. To draw a multicorner, place individual points in space, which will automatically connect to each other with lines to form the desired shape. Make a final move by clicking on the starting point (turquoise dot), which will close the perimeter of the drawn figure.

With the above, app users will be able to zoom in/out of the map and click on the elements you have drawn on the map. These, in turn, will activate the exhibitor profiles pinned to them:

Stand appearance on the map

You can change the color of the drawn booth by selecting a color suggestion from the palette or by entering a color code from the HEX palette. You can also change the thickness of the object's edge from 1 - 3 pixels. The "Transparent" field allows you to specify whether you want the booth to be filled with color (Semi-transparent) or whether you want only its edges to be visible (Edge Only). The effects of these settings are only visible in the mobile application on your phone:

Edit the shape of the drawn figure

Once you have drawn a figure, you can still change its shape and location on the map. Select the pencil icon, then click on the drawn figure to enter its settings. Adjust its shape by grabbing one of the vertices marked with white dots. Change the placement of the figure by right-clicking and dragging it across the map. To rotate the selected figure, right-click and then find the red point that appeared outside the figure's perimeter. Grab it and, moving the cursor, rotate the shape as desired.

Assigning exhibitors to selected booths

Click the drawn object to enter edit mode. The Location Name field is best completed by entering the booth number. Then, in the Exhibitors field, select from the drop-down list the exhibitor that will be available at that booth. This combination will create a button in the application, allowing the participant to move from the interactive map to the exhibitor profile and vice versa - from the exhibitor profile to the map.

Removing items from an interactive map

You can delete a single item on the map that is being edited by clicking Delete Location under the individual edit areas. In addition, you can delete any previously saved item. Under the area for adding a new location is a list of previously added elements on the interactive map. There is a Delete location button under each of them:

NOTE!

Create exhibitor profiles in the Exhibitor module before you start creating the interactive map. This will help you mark exhibitors on the map more efficiently. Learn how to create exhibitor profiles from the following article.
