As MemberVault does not send any emails on your behalf, including when modules release in dripped products, it's ideal to create an automation in your ActiveCampaign account that mimics the drip schedule for your product to deliver such emails.

In this article, we'll cover:

  • How to Trigger Emails for Time-Dripped Products

  • How to Trigger Emails for Date-Dripped Products

Before we jump into how you can do this in ActiveCampaign for time-dripped and date-dripped products, it's important to note that all dripped modules release at 12am in your MV account's timezone on the day in question.

By default, your account's time zone is set to the Pacific Time Zone but you can change this to your desired time zone by going to Settings > General > Time Zone.

It is also assumed that you have already integrated your ActiveCampaign account with your MV account and already have some knowledge & experience with building automations in ActiveCampaign.

It also assumes that you already have experience using our Actions feature to tag your contacts in ActiveCampaign to trigger required automations.

Okay, let's dive in!

How to Trigger Emails for a Time-Dripped Product

A time-dripped product releases modules based on a timeframe that's in relation to when the user gained access to the product (ie. 1 week after joining, 10 days after joining, etc.).

To send emails that notify your members when a module has been released, you'll need to create an automation in ActiveCampaign that mimics the same release schedule that you've set for the product in MV. You'll do this by incorporating a 'wait condition' between each email.

For this example, we're focusing on an evergreen Challenge product that releases modules on a daily basis over 5 days with the first module being available when someone joins.

Step 1
In ActiveCampaign, create a new automation and use your product's tag as the trigger to start the automation.

Step 2
You'll want to start your automation by including a welcome email for your product to be sent out as soon as someone joins your product.

Step 3
Next, let's add in a 'wait condition' for 1 Day so that our user receives their email for Day 1's Module 24hrs after joining the product:

Once done, you'll see the 1 Day 'wait condition' after your welcome email.

Step 4
With your first 'wait condition' in place, you can now add your email for Module #1.

Step 5
Repeat the last two steps of adding in the required 'wait conditions' and module emails until you've included all the required & desired emails.

Unlike MV, ActiveCampaign 'wait conditions' are based on the specific timeframe noted rather than when someone joined the automation - so in our case, since our modules drip daily, each of our 'wait conditions' going forward will be for 1 Day, as well.

Given our example, here's how our finished automation would look:

Well done!πŸŽ‰

You've got your time-dripped product automation in place and ready to go.

Don't forget to turn your automation to Active so those who join your product get added to your automation as intended.

Pro Tip --> If you want your emails to go out at a specific time each day, all you need to do is add TWO 'wait conditions' at the start of your automation just after your welcome email in place of the original 1 Day 'wait condition'.

This first wait condition adds a slight delay in the off chance the person joined your automation in the same hour when you want your emails to go out.

If you omit this first wait condition and someone just happens to join your product at 8am, then there's a very good chance they would receive Module #1's email shortly after the welcome email - which we don't want.

So that 1hr wait condition acts as a buffer to keep this from happening.

The 'Wait Until 8am' condition will set a 'schedule' for the rest of your emails so that they continue to go out in the 8am hr moving forward.

Since each 1 Day 'wait condition' is based on a 24hr period, you only need to use this 'Wait Until 8am' condition at the very start as noted.

The rest of your 'wait conditions' can remain set to 1 Day.

How to Trigger Emails for a Date-Dripped Product

A date-dripped product releases modules based on a specific calendar date.

To send emails that notify your members when a module has been released, you'll need to create an automation in ActiveCampaign that mimics the same release schedule that you've set for the product in MV. For a date-dripped product, you'll do this by incorporating a date-based 'goal condition' between each email.

For this example, we're focusing on a 5-Day Challenge product that releases modules on a daily basis from August 1st - 5th, 2021 with emails going out each date at 7am ET.

Note - you can change the format of your dates from MM/DD/YYYY (the default) to the format of your preference by going to Settings > General > Date Format.

To get started, follow Steps 1 & 2 above to start your automation.

Step 3
Next, we want to add a date-based 'goal condition' after your welcome email that holds your users until the date & time when you want the email for Module #1 to be sent. In our example, we want that email to go out on August 1st at 7am ET.

Step 4
We recommend giving your 'goal condition' a name that very clearly tells you when the email will be sent as the details of the goal will not be openly displayed for you to see in your automation once set. You can only see them by opening the goal step.

Step 5
Use the 'Click to add a goal' prompt to set the conditions for your goal. First, you'll set the desired month. Then click '+Add another condition' to add the day of the month. Then add another condition to include your desired delivery time (7am ET in our example) and then click Save.

Step 6
The only other setting you need to update is the last setting for the goal condition. This setting you want set to 'Wait until the conditions are met'. Once set, click Save to add your 'goal condition' to your automation.

Step 7
Repeat the last two steps of adding in the required 'goal conditions' and module emails until you've included all the required & desired emails.

Given our example, here's how our finished automation would look:

Well done!

You've got your date-dripped product automation in place and ready to go.

Don't forget to turn your automation to Active so those who join your product get added to your automation as intended.
