We highly recommend that you send your customers/clients a welcome email (aka. confirmation email) along with their login info when they join any of your products so they can have this information on record for easy access in the future.

While MV doesn’t send any emails on your behalf, you can easily create one and trigger the welcome email using our Actions feature. This article will show you how.

(If you haven't yet integrated your ActiveCampaign account with your MV account, head over to this article to take care of this detail first.)

Ready? Let's get started!

Step 1: Go to Product and Click 'edit' for the product you are working on.

Step 2: Scroll down until you find the Actions area at the very bottom of the Product settings page. Click 'Add Action':

Step 3: An action will get added and here’s what it looks like by default:

Leave the settings as-is for now and let’s focus on the ‘Name of Tag’ area.

Step 4: Under the Name of Tag area, you’ll need to create a tag specific to that product.

NOTE: The ‘user_tag’ is just a placeholder so you’ll need to add an actual name there for this to be able to work.

We’d recommend naming it something that is easy for you to recognize and filter. For example ‘Product Name_Customer’ or ‘MV_Freebies’. You can use an existing tag that you've already created in your ActiveCampaign account or you can use a brand new one. The most important thing is to ensure the tag you note in your Action exactly matches what you have in your ActiveCampaign account.

That’s it! When someone purchases or signs up for your product, the tag will be automatically applied to their contact profile in your ActiveCampaign account.

Now, let's create automation in your ActiveCampaign account to send your welcome email.

Step 1: Open your ActiveCampaign account and go to Automations > Create an Automation.

Step 2: To get your automation started, select the 'Start from Scratch' option and click 'Continue'.

Step 3: Select 'Tag is Added' as your automation trigger.

Step 4: Add the same tag name exactly as you entered it in your product's Action settings and click 'Add Start'.

Step 5: For the first step in your automation, select 'Send an email'.

Step 6: Follow the directions from ActiveCampaign to insert an existing email or to create a new one from a template or past campaign.

As a best practice, we recommend including the user's login details in this email. The username & password for all new users defaults to the user's email address that they used to join your product.

Tip: Use ActiveCampaign's personalization tag for Email (%EMAIL%) to auto-populate to their email address directly in the body of your email when received.

Depending on your use case, you might also want to link to a specific module/lesson from within your product inside MemberVault.

To grab the one-click link, go to the module/lesson in question, and click the gear icon:

A pop-up screen will appear - copy the link inside the One-Click Link field and add it to your welcome email in ActiveCampaign:

When someone clicks on the link, they’ll be automatically logged in and able to directly access the module/lesson.

To help you further with setting up your welcome email in ActiveCampaign, we've created an email swipe file for you to use if you are struggling over what to say in your email.

Step 7: Once you've completed your welcome email and automation, make sure to name your automation (we suggest using something very clear that denotes the automation purpose) and set your automation to Active.

If you forget to set your automation Active, even though people may join your product and be tagged accordingly, they will not receive the intended welcome email because the automation is not live/on.

That’s it! You’re all set with your welcome email automation 🎉

Now, whenever someone joins your product, they’ll automatically receive a welcome email that includes their login info moments after joining.

Once you’ve finished setting up the email automation, we highly recommend that you do a test to ensure that the process is working smoothly without any issue.
