You may be using Vimeo as your video hosting platform, but when you try to embed a video into MemberVault, you get an error messages like these ones:

Vimeo video does not exist error · Issue #2144 · fancyapps/fancybox · GitHub
No way to catch errors on instantiation · Issue #165 · vimeo/player.js · GitHub

Here are the settings you need to check on your videos to ensure that once you embed them to MemberVault, they are accessible by your users.

Log in to your Vimeo account and open the video that you wish to edit.

  1. Click on the blue "Share" button in the top right corner of the video:

  2. In the pop-up window that appears, you'll see a list of who has access to your video as well as a section to set your Link Privacy. Depending on your preferences, make sure that your Link Privacy is either set to Unlisted, Password Protected, Hide from Vimeo, or Public. Private videos will not play on a MemberVault site.

  3. You can also set whether you want your video downloaded or added to showcases by toggling the two buttons. These are available in the gear icon of the popup menu:

  4. To further customize where your Vimeo links can be embedded, click over to the Embed tab.

  5. Here you can select the option to embed the video anywhere, or you can choose the domains that you wish to embed the video in. If you choose to select specific domains, we recommend including both our default mvsite.app and your custom domain if you are using one.

Occasionally, you may find that Vimeo may change global settings for all accounts and that previously embedded videos that worked fine have stopped working. You would need to check with Vimeo on how to solve this issue. Here is a link to their Help Center.

Additional Troubleshooting Tip: If you use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on your device, this can sometimes disrupt the playability of your Vimeo videos. Try turning your VPN off, refresh the page where your video is embedded and this should do the trick!
