How Do Notifications Work for the Community Feature?

Written by Erin Kelly

If you haven't read our How to use our community feature help article yet, we recommend starting there.

Your members will be notified if someone comments on one of their posts, or replies to one of their comments. Members will be able to choose inside their profile whether they want email notifications or to keep all notifications inside MemberVault.

You as an admin will be notified for the same reasons.

To avoid inbox overwhelm, we limit notifications to one email per hour for comment notifications. If you have a popular post blowing up with replies, you wouldn't want to get hundreds of emails for that. We have this limit in place so as to not spam the receiver of the emails.

Sending Community Post Notifications

When you are a logged in admin and posting in a community, you'll see a checkbox to allow you to send notifications to members of that community.

Tagging in Communities and Comments

When typing in a post, comment, or reply, you can tag people with @(start typing their username or display name). This only will search for people who have set up their username and have access to that community.

Member Notification Preferences

Members will now see in their profile that they have settings for both comment notifications, and admin notifications.
